Who We Are
South Brent Old School Community Centre is an open access Community Hub in the heart of South Brent, on the edge of Dartmoor. The Centre is home to numerous local groups, facilities, businesses and charities, and has a number of rooms available for hire. South Brent Old School Community Centre is the ideal venue for your next meeting, talk, party, workshop, conference, exhibition or fundraising event.

Job Vacancy
Part Time Cleaner (Self Employed)
at South Brent Old School Community Centre
South Brent Old School Community Centre is a wonderful community facility, loved and used by many in the village. A wide range of groups, clubs and classes take place every day at the Centre, and it is essential that the building is well maintained so that these groups can flourish and enjoy the facilities. Having a dedicated cleaner is part of this!
Could you be our new Cleaner?
You will have:
- Cleaning experience
- Good attention to detail
- Availability every weekday
- Be comfortable lone-working
- Ability to work on a self-employed contract
We can offer you:
- £15 per hour
- Prompt payment on a monthly basis
- Feel-good factor of working for a charity and contributing to thriving village life
Working Hours – 7 per week:
- 1 hour per day every weekday in the Community Centre, usually worked in the morning before 9am (although exact timings can be discussed)
- 2 hours per week in the School House Offices (exact timings can be discussed)

Art House
An arts and crafts space for making, mending and meeting. Art House has an ongoing programme of courses, classes and sessions suitable for all.
Archive
The SOUTH BRENT ARCHIVE is housed in the Beacon Room, and holds a series of talks and events throughout the year.
Community Fridge
Saving food from going to landfill, free to everyone in the community to collect
Share Shed
The Share Shed will be in the car park every Friday morning between 10:00 and 12:00.
Corridor Gallery
An ongoing exhibition of artwork from the local community and displays of the work of local organisations. Artwork can include paintings and drawings in various mediums, photographs and a wide variety of crafts.
Bike Bank
Aims to provide free, week-long leases to encourage people in South Brent to get out and about around the area.
South Brent &
District Caring
Offering befriending and other services including prescription collection, transport, help with forms and administration, assistance with shopping and gardening in South Brent and the surrounding areas of Avonwick, North Huish, Diptford and Rattery Parishes.
Sustainable South Brent
SSB has a base in the Old School Community Centre, in “the Hub”. As well as a drop-in three times a week, many SSB events are run in the building.
Equipment Available
We have a range of equipment available for use within the Centre, some items available for use outside the Community Centre in the local area.
Office or Studio
Space to Rent
We have six small rooms in the School House which can be used as an office or studio. When spaces become vacant they will be advertised widely in South Brent and beyond.

Opening times depend on the activities and groups which use the building, so these times are approximate:
Monday 9am – 3pm
Tuesday 9:30am – 3pm
Wednesday 9am – 4pm
Thursday 9:30am – 3pm
Friday 9am – 12:30pm
Saturday 10am – 12pm
Sunday – Closed
